The spamsites list is a free DNS-based database of IP addresses of spam sources (spammers, spam gangs and spam support services) queriable in realtime by mail systems throughout the Internet for the purpose of refusing Unsolicited Bulk Email (spam).

Where do they get the addresses from?
The answer is that there are many sites on the web willing to sell spamming resources to gullible newcomers.

The lists below are all the sites we know of which do one or more of the following things:

• Sell bulk E-mail software which has a "stealth" or filter avoidance mode
• Sell software designed to "harvest" E-mail addresses from the net
• Sell E-mail addresses extracted from the net ("targeted" or not)
• Sell services, media or software with spammer specific features
• Provide bulk mailing services to non-opt in lists
• Provide "bulletproof" services for spammers
• Redirects to or promotes links to web sites which do the above
